Oh my G-d, I'm still alive!

Heh. I only have a few minutes, so big long entries later about all the stuff happening in my life, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I AM still around. I don't have reliable access to a computer these days, but I'm hopefully going to buy one soon.

I bought a digital camera today. It's much nicer than my last one, which was stolen anyway. And I don't feel too bad about the expense, since it was all kinds of marked down due to Circuit City going out of business. Yay! Now I can take pictures.

Yes. We WILL.

I too have faith in our country. I don't think Obama will make it rain puppies and rainbows, and I know that the honeymoon will end. He will disappoint us. We will disagree with him. But I believe in the promise of this nation, I always have, and I DO have faith that President Obama will work diligently towards that promise. If nothing else, he has inspired a huge number of American citizens to take those necessary steps, to make those sacrifices, to renew their faith in the greatness of American ideals, and that alone is priceless. I feel filled with light and hope at this moment, and if that's all it ever is - a moment - then I am grateful for it, and I cherish it.

Anyone else have plans to watch the Inauguration? 'Cause I do. I currently have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, which works perfectly, as the actual swearing-in is at noon (Eastern). I'm going to be in Milwaukee visiting the_chimp_pimp, and I will be parked out on his couch with a bottle of bubbly and various snacky things in front of his 42-inch screen TV. I am VERY excited.

So! Anyone else?

Healed enough to go back to work, though of course the day I decide to do so is colder than fuck-all. Luckily my brother is being a dear and has agreed to drive me to work so I don't have to wait for the train (on a Sunday, no less) in sub-zero weather.

I rarely do these, but this one is pretty amusing.

If you saw ME in a police car, what would you think I got arrested for? Answer me, then post to your own journal and see how many crimes you get accused of.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I'm over the moon. I've participated in helping America make history.

My heart is so full right now.

My dog is dying.

She hasn't been eating for the past few days, and what little food we could get her to eat, she's vomited back up. She doesn't want to go for walks. She's... just not there. And yesterday, she took herself outside and just lay down in the bushes and won't move. When pack animals are about to die, they take themselves off from the rest of the group and find an out-of-the-way spot. That's what she's doing.

I'm leaving for Wisconsin in about 2 hours, so the rest of my family is taking her in today to be euthanized. She's already gone... I think left to her body's own devices, she would die within 2 or 3 days anyway, possibly even today.

We've had her for 15 years. More than half my life. She's so beautiful - half beagle, quarter black lab, and quarter Gordon setter. She's the size of a large beagle, with a beautiful beagle face and ears, but she's all black, with tan and white points, and slight feathering on her tail and thighs. She was the most cheerful, playful, affectionate dog... so sweet and loving.

My heart is broken.

I know I haven't been publicly squeeing over XF2 like alot of my flist, but that doesn't mean I haven't been FREAKING THE HELL OUT.

Chelsea and I are going to the midnight show tonight. I was talking to her yesterday, making plans for tonight and whatnot, and we decided to get dinner before we left for the show. Then we were trying to remember if there's some particular kind of food (other than sunflower seeds) that would be especially iconic in an X-Files kind of way, and we realized that Mulder and Scully don't really eat that much on the show. They had BBQ that one time, when Mulder wiped a dribble of sauce off of the corner of Scully's mouth. Then there was the bucket of fried chicken that Scully was constantly lugging around in "Our Town", but... associations = ew. Theeeen I suppose pizza was featured in a few eps. like "Bad Blood", and more recently, "Empedocles" (OMG THE SHIPPINESS). And of course iced tea. And non-fat Tofutti rice dreamsicles. But... eh. There's not a specific food that screams "X-Files!", so we'll probably abandon that idea.

God... I remember when we lined up for the first movie. We got there so early that we were the first ones in line. And that was at our local theatre, which didn't have a midnight showing, so we went to the first showing it had.

I am so loving my fangirlyness.
